It was a busy night for the ladies of GTAR last saturday with the G-sTARs taking on TCRG Plan-B and the Derby Debutantes taking on the Border City Brawlers. The G-sTARs put up a steady fight in the first half of their bout with the score at half time reading 42-55 for Plan-B. TCRG’s Plan-B pulled ahead in the second half giving them a final score of 185 to the G-sTARs 89. Congratulations to Plan-B on the win, it was a well fought bout and a well deserved win.
The Derby Debutantes and the Border City Brawlers had an exciting match with only a few lead changes not many points separating the two teams for the majority of the first half. The score at half time was 67-75 for the Border City Brawlers. The fight continued well into the second half and ended with the Border City Brawlers emerging victorious with a score of 113-193. The determination from both teams during the entire bout was incredible to watch.
The end of this double header brings an end to our June events. Curious what GTAR is getting up to in July? Wonder no more!
We’re kicking off July with the East York Canada Day Parade on July 1st. Both the G-sTARs and Debs will be trading in their pink, yellow, and black for red and white and showing their patriotism on skates.
On July 7th the G-sTARs are heading to Ajax, Ontario to skate against DRRD‘s Atom Smashers. This away game’s not too far from home – come show some black and yellow support!
On July 14th, it’s back! The Fresh and The Furious: GTA Drift, GTAR’s annual all day freshie tournament. You can look forward to 14 teams, 2 tracks, and unlimited fun. Catch the action in Ted Reeve Arena and the adjacent bubble. Most of the debs and a few of the G-sTARs will be skating this year.
On July 21 and 22 the G-sTARs will represent GTAR in the RDAC Eastern Regional Tournament. Hosted by Royal City Roller Girls in Guelph, it’s sure to be 2 days of hard hitting derby action.
Last but not least on July 28th we’re holding another co-ed game at Ted Reeve Arena. Come watch your favourite male refs try their hand as skaters (and maybe try their hand at bootie shorts?).
